Notice on requirements for sending goods with batteries on June 30, 2020
After receiving the notice from Hong Kong DHL, it was suspected that there was spontaneous combustion of goods at the destination recently. After investigation, the goods involved were declared as “electronic cigarettes”, while the actual goods were “electronic cigarettes with batteries”. That is, the goods actually have batteries, but the sender fails to correctly declare the battery information as required when sending the goods, which does not rule out that the sender deliberately conceals the battery transportation regardless of the air transportation safety, which poses a very serious threat to the life safety of the aviation crew and the property safety of the aircraft cargo. According to the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, dangerous goods Circular No. 2 / 2018: the shipment of undeclared or incorrectly declared dangerous goods in violation of the dangerous goods (air consignment) (safety) regulations will constitute a violation of chapter 384 a of the laws of Hong Kong, and the shippers and / or freight forwarders involved in the case may be prosecuted. He is liable on conviction to a fine of $250000 and to imprisonment for two years.
In view of the importance of aviation safety, our company once again emphasizes that when sending goods with batteries, we must correctly and truthfully declare the battery information, use qualified packaging and conduct effective inspection. All problems, consequences and responsibilities arising from the false declaration of battery information such as concealment and omission will be borne by the sender. Thank you.
